Maintaining Health from Consumed Food

I never get tired of writing about how important the food we eat every day is. The purpose of this writing is to remind us that our health is determined by the food we consume every day.

Why is food so important for the body?

Our body needs food to support the survival of cells and tissues in our body. Our body is built by cells and tissues that are interconnected and work together to form a life organization. In our body from the head to the soles of the feet, then the brain, organs , bones, muscles to the lymphatic system are all formed from cells and tissue systems.

To support body performance, food is needed as a source of energy, cell and tissue repair, and support the performance of body organs. Food supports muscle contraction power so that we can move well. Food also supports the performance of heart muscle cells to pump and flow oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. Therefore, food is very important for our bodies.

Every day we need food. The food we eat every day generally consists of rice and side dishes. Rice contains carbohydrates which are important for muscle energy sources which will be converted into ATP which comes from glucose in the rice content. Minerals and electrolytes found in water and fruits such as coconut water are very important for the heart's electric generator.

The food we consume will enter the digestive organs which are processed to take important substances for the body and remove waste in the form of feces in the large intestine. Any food that enters the body will be processed in the stomach. Our stomach has an acidic fluid that can dissolve food. The stomach works to squeeze food into fine particles.

The food we consume every day determines our long-term health. Foods that are rich in nutrients and balanced nutrition can help balance organ performance and maintain healthy cells and tissues. However, without us realizing it, the habit of eating delicious and savory foods has a bad impact on the body in the long term.

Foods that are fried, sautéed, and grilled at high temperatures can change the nutritional content of food. The process of cooking with hot fire and direct flame spray triggers the risk of carcinogenesis in food. Various types of food that are processed with high heat are often found in Asian cuisine restaurants. In addition to the nutritional content of food that changes, the use of oil and flavorings also support the negative impact of consuming these foods on the body.

Consuming foods rich in fat, salt, sugar, flavorings, low in nutrients, and fiber in the long term can affect health. The digestive organs that have worked to process food that enters the body will flow metabolic waste through the blood vessels. In this case, fat from unused food will flow through the blood vessel tunnel.

Fat from food flowing through blood vessels will leave traces on the walls of blood vessels. Like the water pipes in our homes that are passed through every day, leaving mucus and green moss along the pipe walls. Moss buildup occurs because the water flowing along the pipe is mixed with murky water. The same is true for blood vessels that transport metabolic products to the heart, then in the heart they are processed and returned to the blood vessels throughout the body.

Blood flow through the blood vessel pipes should flow with a steady current. However, if there is a buildup of fat on the walls of blood vessels, then blood flow will be obstructed. The fat deposits can erode or come off and block the blood vessels in the heart. Therefore, it is important for us to know this.

Those who like to consume high-fat foods are at high risk of developing cardiometabolic diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, and blood vessels. Those who like to eat sweet foods can increase the work of the insulin hormone. Damaged insulin hormones are unable to produce insulin to stabilize blood sugar levels. As a result, a person can experience hyperglucose or diabetes mellitus. High blood sugar levels can damage cells and body tissues so that a person is susceptible to nerve disorders, strokes, kidney failure, and so on. Those who like to eat instant foods and those cooked at high temperatures are at risk of damaging cells. Cells divide uncontrollably into cancer cells.

There are still many negative impacts of foods high in fat, salt, and sugar. Foods that are cooked with a long and multi-layered process are also vulnerable to body health. Therefore, we need to make a strict selection of the food that enters our body. Health is a long-term investment. If we are able to control ourselves to choose the right content in every food consumed, this is the best step for long-term physical health.

It should be noted that, the cost of medical treatment is currently too expensive. A series of treatments for one disease can take a lot of time and money. Moreover, young people are also susceptible to critical illnesses such as cancer and kidney failure. The elderly often experience strokes and heart attacks.

Critical illness starts from the food we consume every day. It does not happen immediately. In this case, there is a time process that causes it. Therefore, this article is written as an alarm for all of us.

Let's maintain our health by consuming foods high in fiber, nutrients, and nutrition obtained from real food with a simple cooking process and low temperatures.

Delicious but Healthy? The Facts Behind Fried Vegetables

Tempe mendoan, vegetable fritters, to fried broccoli in flour---fried vegetables are indeed tempting. The texture is crispy, the aroma is tempting, and the taste suits many people's tongues. However, behind the deliciousness, the question arises: are fried vegetables still healthy to consume?

Fried Vegetables: A Dining Table Favorite

It is undeniable that vegetable-based fried foods are one of the most popular snacks and side dishes. Easy to make, delicious, and suitable for various situations. Some popular examples include vegetable fritters, Japanese vegetable tempura, and stir-fried kale that is fried until crispy.

Its popularity is also driven by its affordable price and abundant availability of ingredients. But, does its nutritional content remain intact after frying?

Natural Nutrition in Vegetables

Raw vegetables or those cooked by boiling and lightly sautéing contain many important nutrients. Starting from vitamins A, C, K, fiber, to antioxidants. These nutrients are very good for maintaining endurance, facilitating digestion, and fighting free radicals.

However, the cooking process can affect the nutritional content, especially if it involves high temperatures such as when frying.

Frying Process and Its Impact

When vegetables are fried, especially in very hot oil, some vitamins such as vitamins C and B can be destroyed. Not only that, the frying process causes vegetables to absorb a lot of oil, so their calorie content increases.

If the oil used is used cooking oil or used repeatedly, the health risks are greater. Saturated fats and trans fats from damaged oils can trigger high cholesterol, heart disease, and obesity if consumed too often.

Tips for Enjoying Fried Vegetables in a Healthier Way

The good news is, you can still enjoy fried vegetables without feeling guilty, as long as you know the tricks:

Choose healthy oils:

Use olive oil, coconut oil, or canola oil which are more stable when heated.

Do not use used oil:

Reused oil contains harmful compounds.

Use alternative cooking techniques:

Air-frying, lightly sautéing, or baking may be the solution.

Combine with other healthy foods:

Serve fried vegetables with brown rice, fresh vegetables, or clear soup for a balanced nutritional balance.

Limit frequency and portions:

Enjoy in moderation, not every day.

Conclusion

Fried vegetables are delicious, but it is important to be wise in consuming them. The nutrients in vegetables can be reduced if fried, especially in unhealthy oil.

However, with the right cooking method and good choice of oil, you can still enjoy the deliciousness without sacrificing your health.

Because health is not about prohibitions, but about balance.
